About Akaroa Cruising Club

General Information

The Club has a full racing schedule. Sunday is the Club’s racing day and visiting yachts are welcome to join any race. Club Trophies will be awarded only to boats that are skippered by a full member of the Akaroa Cruising Club.

Facilities

Brownies Wharf

Which is available for use of club members and visiting boats. It is not permitted to stay alongside overnight. High Pressure water and Electricity is available on the wharf. Chemical toilet disposal is available at the Clubhouse end of the wharf by the Starters Box.

The Clubhouse

Has showers, toilets and a kitchen with a microwave and tea and coffee making facilities. A small freezer is available for short-term requirements. Reasonable rubbish disposal is also available.

These facilities are available to visiting boat owners at a cost of $5.00 per crew member per week or part thereof. Access to the Clubhouse may be obtained from the duty officer or Wardroom Manager during busy times or Brian Little at the Akaroa Auto Centre. This $5.00 charge makes each crew member a temporary member of the Club. This is essential in terms of our Club Premises Licence and all names must be entered into the book provided for this purpose.

Wardroom

The Club licence allows for the wardroom bar to be open every race day. Flying of the green and white pennant normally signifies this.

Dinghies

May be moored to the wharf at their owner risk, parking of dinghies on the ramp is not permitted except for setting down and picking up of passengers.

Moorings

The Club has limited mooring available for short term use, and inquiries from Club officials may provide some information regarding hiring of unused private moorings. Hire charges for Club moorings are $5.00 per day or $30.00 per week. All applications for use must be made in writing to the Club. Members can also provide local knowledge as to the most sheltered parts of the harbour for boats to lie to their ground tackle.

Haulout

This is operated on behalf of the Club and the local fishermen. High-pressure water is available for washing down but owners must make their own arrangements for additional equipment. All rubbish must be removed before boats go back in the water.
